Synopsis

Marusia and Sergei Chaldonov share a happy marriage, their only sorrow being their inability to conceive a child. However, at the age of 49, Marusia's prayers are seemingly answered when they meet Lazarus Lindt, an 18-year-old orphan possessing a remarkable intellect, a true maverick of his troubled era.

As Lazarus matures into a prodigious talent, he finds himself in love with Marusia, but she views him solely as a son. Tragedy strikes when Marusia passes away, leaving Lazarus to grapple with his unrequited love. In his grief, he crosses paths with Galina, 30 years younger, who harbors deep animosity toward him despite his fervent adoration. Galina has her reasons, having previously envisioned a future with a fellow college student before she was threatened into marrying powerful Lindt.

A devastating accident claims the lives of Galina's son and daughter-in-law, leaving their young daughter, Lida, as an orphan at the tender age of five. Enduring the harsh indifference of her grandmother and the physical demands of ballet school, Lida, a spirited tomboy, learns to navigate pain and heartache. Along her arduous journey, she discovers that love and a sense of belonging can be found in the most unexpected of places.

In this poignant tale of love, loss, and resilience, The Women of Lazarus reveals the profound impact of family, the enduring strength of the human spirit, and the transformative power of unexpected connections.
